Welcome
to the Toronto section of Discount Hotel Group.
For a city less
than an hour over the United States- Canada border,
Toronto is a destination that’s surprisingly
exotic, cosmopolitan, and diverse. As the fifth largest
city in all of North America, and boasting over 100
cultures and fascinating neighborhoods, it’s
no wonder Toronto prides itself on being “the
world within a city”. From its thriving nightlife
and cultural scene, to the Hockey Hall of Fame, to
the scenic shores of Lake Ontario, to the world’s
tallest building, Toronto’s possibilities are
truly endless. Combine all this with a favorable exchange
rate, and you’ve got yourself a can’t-miss
vacation.
No matter what
your taste, you are bound to find something to your
liking in Toronto’s fabulous Entertainment District.

Queen Street West, Yonge Street, Spadina Avenue and Queens
Quay West create the borders for this area where much of
the city’s sporting events, concerts, and dramatic
performances take place, and you’re also likely to
find a wide range of bars and nightclubs.
Novotel Toronto Centre and Le Royal Meridien King Edward
put you right next to attractions like the Hockey Hall of
Fame, St. Lawrence Cenre for the Arts, and the Hummingbird
Centre (a popular concert venue), while the Strathcona is
just steps away from the Air Canada Centre (home of the
Toronto Raptors basketball team), the CN Tower (the tallest
building in the world), Sky Dome (home of the Toronto Blue
Jays baseball team), and an assortment of other theatres.
Part of what makes Toronto such an exciting place to visit
is its many neighborhoods. There’s Chinatown, Little
Italy, Portugal Village, and Little India, among others,
each with its own distinct shops and restaurants. The original
Chinatown, which dates back to 1935, features authentic
Chinese cuisine and a spectacular Chinese New Year celebration
that’s become one of the city’s main events.
The luxurious Metropolitan Hotel offers a convenient location
close to the action.
Another of Toronto’s most surprisingly unique areas
is its Financial District. While any major city is bound
to have its fair share of skyscrapers, how many can boast
an extensive Underground City (known as the PATH) to match?
Coming in particular handy during the chilly winter months,
six full miles of walkways lined with over 1200 retails
stores and services wind through Toronto’s bustling
Downtown area. Look for the Fairmont Royal York, Pantages
Hotel Suites Spa and Cambridge Suites Hotel along the way,
and be sure to stop in at the Eaton Centre, one of the largest
shopping malls in Canada.
In the mood for some posh shopping and a more refined setting?
Be sure to check out Bloor/Yorkville. Originally a middle-class
suburb in the mid-1850s, this Victorian-inspired area combines
its architectural charm and serene parks with many upscale
restaurants and stores. Bloor Street West (also known as
“The Mink Mile”), which marks the neighborhood’s
separation from Downtown, boasts Toronto’s most fashionable
designer boutiques. The Sutton Place Hotel, The Marriott
Bloor Yorkville, and Quality Hotel Bloor Street are all
nearby.
There’s plenty more to Toronto, too. You can find
antique shops and old cottages by The Beaches, lush parks
in idyllic Rosedale, or a plethora of museums surrounding
the University of Toronto campus. With so much to see, so
close by, Toronto is well worth the trip.
