There's not much sedate about the entertainment in Orlando .everything is pretty much out of the ordinary and beyond your wildest dreams. But, hey, why not, isn't this the land of imagination and make believe? Who needs the "real world" when you are on vacation or in town for business. Isn't it okay just to escape reality for even a little while?
If you can envision it, you will probably find it here. Nearly all of the theme parks have special evening shows. Universal Studios, for example, has a great selection of restaurants and entertainment at its CityWalk so there's really no need to leave the park after dark. Hotels close to Universal include the Radisson Barcelo Hotel, Sierra Suites Convention Center , and Comfort Suites Universal.
Disney is known for some magical happenings after dark including its "SpectroMagic" Parade which takes place on certain nights. Every conceivable form of illumination - from rainbows of colored lights to dizzying arrays of fiber optics - light up the night. Mickey and friends star in this magical, glittering spectacle featuring half a million lights. Another evening attraction at the park is "Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams" where the Magic Kingdom Park is illuminated by a fireworks extravaganza narrated by none other than the inimitable Jiminy Cricket.
Dinner shows are very popular in Orlando , and Arabian Nights is considered the best show in town. It all begins with an elaborate palace with seating for more than 1,200. The dinner show includes an Arabian princess, genie, chariot race, square dan cing on horseback, and gypsy acrobatics. Another spot for some out-of-the-ordinary entertainment is Medieval Times, an extravaganza featuring 30 horses, knights, maidens, jousting, and more ( Sheraton's Vistana Resort is nearby). The hearty medieval fare is served at long family-style tables surrounded non-stop action. Other area dinner shows include a Polynesian Luau, Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, Gangster show, and more.
If you're looking for some adults-only after-dinner entertainment, make arrangements for a babysitter, and then head on over to a comedy club or lounge with pretty much any type of music you prefer from country to jazz, disco, blues, Motown, and even Jimmy Buffet style tunes. You will even come across a wide variety of bars and pubs with special themes as well. The Radisson Inn Lake Buena Vista is near the House of Blues.
